After the cold of winter and the unpredictability of spring, the prospect of warm sunny days and balmy nights is enough to make anyone smile.
But summer can be tough on your skin so before you dive into your bikini and head for the beach it’s worth taking a few simple steps to prepare, protect and perfect your skin. You’ll look better for it and you’ll be a whole lot safer in the sun.
Here are our expert tips for summer skincare:
(1) Adapt your skincare routine
So, just as we suggested making some changes to your skincare routine in spring, you need to make a few more adaptations to suit the summer weather.
Gentle foaming cleansers and lightweight moisturisers will keep your skin hydrated without looking greasy or clogging your pores.

(2) Protect Against the Sun
At this time of year damaging UVB rays are at their strongest and skin can burn quickly. Make sure you use a skin block with an SPF of 30 or higher such as SIf you have fair skin you should avoid tanning altogether as a sun tan is a sign of cellular level damage. If you do get burned, talk to a skincare specialist to help your skin repair and prevent long-term damage wherever possible.
(3) Choose a tinted moisturiser
You should avoid a heavy foundation in the summer as it can look greasy and clog pores.
